Because some of you might panic during the end process of explore.exe it's best to read the whole steps before proceeding, If you have fast internet, you can watch it on Youtube or if you hate to buffer and listen to my sweet voice, go and read and watch those pictures as guidelines, this is my first narrating screen-cast. Enjoy!

As image shown above, in windows 7 you'll likely to encounter this sort of problem. This is due to the icon cahce problem, and it need to be refresh.

1. Head to task manager by pressing (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC), find "Explorer.exe" process and right click and select "End Process" at the drop-down menu. Now your desktop might close, don't panic just head to the next step.

2. Navigate your mouse to "File > New Task (Run..)" at the top menubar.

3. A "Create New Task" box will pop out, in the text field of "Open:" enter "CMD"

4. At the command prompt window as above paste like above:

CD /d %userprofile%\AppData\Local
DEL IconCache.db /a
EXIT

5. Hit "Enter" key and it will automatically exit.
6. Get the "Create New Task" box out once more, this time in the text field type in explorer.exe and your desktop will be bacl

7. And check your icons, it will be back
