I've always love Ubuntu, but I'd never use it for more than a day, perhaps I'm just too fond with Windows rather than a Linux distribution. Anyway as I was moving to Linux I had to make few preparations and thus I write down some question to find out if moving to Linux was a good move for me.
1. Is there a software in Windows that without it I feel disabled? Is it available in Linux? Is there an alternative? Is it adequate?
-Mainly office suite and Internet browsers! Without them there's no purpose of having a computer in a first place. There's LibreOffice/OpenOffice, research about it and I found it lack extensibility like Microsoft Office and lacks in customization as well but it's adequate for school or working documents, nothing fancy. Chrome and Firefox is available in Linux! YES
2. Why I want to go to Linux? Is it worth it?
-Moving to Linux is like transversing to a new world, with new things to explore and learn, it should be good a experience for me as a computer techies. As to what it worth, I have to wait a few days and check it out.
3. Clean installation or dual boot?
-Dual boot, I'm not ditching Windows when I'm still on trial in Linux, who knows if I made the wrong choice?
4. What happen if I encountered problem in Linux and I have no idea to solved it?
-There's community out there to help but definitely not that easy to google as Windows. For now no problem encountered yet, hope it stays that way.
5. GAMES? DOTA? GARENA?
-So far the only solution is using WineHQ to emulate Windows environment, buggy perhaps will try out soon.
So far I give it out 8/10 on my experience! Will update soon :D
